2.5L Electric Deep Fat Fryer

Good value for money. I do find the capacity is small though. When oil is put to MAX level mark and chips lowered into oil, the oil barely covers the chips. I'm sure not recommended but I have put extra oil in so when the basket is raised, the oil level is just below the basket. I have checked that the oil level once the chips have been lowered is still at a safe level.

I was recently looking for a deep fat fryer & this product popped up as I'd previously bought the same product a couple of years ago for my mum. My mums is still working & it's good quality with an extra large basket that can cater for around 4 people easily. It was a no brainer. That is until mine arrived. It is very clearly NOT the same one I bought 2 years ago! For the same price, it is half the size. The cheap quality of the plastic is glaringly obvious. It feels like it's going to fall apart when you lift it. I was so disappointed, but my sons were desperate for 'real chips'. This is the second time I've used it. The lid will not stay shut. The screeching noise is the from the lid when it moves. I've tried everything to keep the lid on but it won't stay shut. Russell Hobbs need to recall this product as its actually dangerous. Since making this video, the lid has come clean off & will not re-attach. Also the mechanism to lower & raise the (tiny) basket is very precarious. Shame on Amazon & Russell Hobbs for stocking & selling such an item of poor & dangerous quality. Bear in mind, I have used this item only twice. I will be requesting a refund. AVOID
